Graduate Structural Engineer

Job Description

Structural Engineer
London, N1
£28k-£36k

Become part of something new and exciting…

Could you be interested to become the fourth employee of an up and coming structural engineering practice?

Workload is currently exceptionally busy and the time and structure is now right for a more junior person to join and be given appropriate support. The practice has plans to grow to 6+ staff in the next few years.

The Director is MIStructE qualified, very personable and experienced at mentoring for Chartership. He has been part of a reputable London practice for 10 years, where he was their first employee himself but has branched out to build his own brand.

The role would suit a graduate structural engineer with 6 months- 2 years of buildings design experience and able to use Autocad. You must be keen for development and career growth, an exceptionally varied workload and involvement in all aspects of projects. A fresh graduate of exceptional calibre will also be considered. You would be given the flexibility and autonomy that can only come with working for a small practice.

The firm shares fabulous newly fitted out office space with one of their lovely architect clients, so there is a team of friendly people to talk to.
This role would suit a driven candidate with excellent communication skills and a desire to take autonomy for work, get involved in all aspects of projects and play a part in the future of the company - not just do the number crunching!

The work is exceptionally varied, often architecturally led bespoke projects, generally £1m-£3m in build value, and would suit a thinking engineer who enjoys fiddly problem solving and working with good architects. Current projects include new build developments, vertical extensions, supermarkets, bespoke residential schemes, fancy internal staircases, a private residential house sunken into a hillside where the owner would like it column free, multi-storey new build townhouses, conversion of garages to housing which are based on some tricky ground, temporary works schemes and refurbs.

Excellent communication skills are essential and a desire to work towards Chartership.

In addition to 25 days holiday and pension scheme, mobile and laptop, there will be a very flexible work environment. The offices are close to various transport links and eateries, all space is newly fitted out, with sit/stand desks, a basement café, showers, lockers and cycle parking.
No visa sponsorship is offered.
