Go-ahead of the Leisure World facility was confirmed after planners at East Riding of Yorkshire Council approved the scheme.
The facility will include a six-lane, 25m swimming pool, a smaller learner pool, a freeform pool with water features, two water slides and spectator seating for 150. It will also have a health suite with a steam room, sauna, jacuzzi, showers and foot spa. There will be a six-court sports hall, two squash courts, a fitness gym, an exercise studio, a spinning studio and spaces for dance and yoga classes.
John Phillips, construction director for BAM Construction, said: 鈥淚t鈥檚 an exciting project 鈥� the leisure sector often has unique buildings that need an eye for quality and a collaborative, problem-solving culture like ours. We will also try to deliver economic benefits for the area, involving local firms as much as possible.鈥�
He added: 鈥淚t鈥檚 our second major leisure project in the region, with Huddersfield Sports Centre under construction and three projects in Hull.鈥�
