Clegg Construction has been appointed as main contractor to oversee the demolition of a 1980s four-storey office building on Wellington Street in Leeds and replace it with a new eight-storey block with 77,000 sq ft of office space.

Joint venture developers Prescient Capital and Asset Capital secured planning consent for the redevelopment in 2023 with Prescient subsequently taking over 100% of the project.

The design of 31 Wellington Street has been led by DLA Architects, which previously designed some of Leeds’s most prominent office buildings. DLA is supported by civil/structural engineer Roscoe and building services engineer Thornley & Lumb.

Site preparation works have started with the demolition due to start from this September and project completion anticipated by July 2027, which is more than a year behind the programme when we last reported on this scheme.
