In March 2016 that Galliford Try had won a 拢62m contract to replace the Richardson Road 鈥� Ricky Road 鈥� flats at Newcastle University.
In May, to the Park View Student Village project as a 拢62m contract.
Now it confirms that it has signed a 拢68m contract for the project, which involves construction of 1,277 student bedrooms across a series of six blocks, ranging from four to 10 storeys, adjacent to the main university campus on the site of the Ricky Road flats. The existing buildings, built in the 1970s, are being demolished.
Completion date remains summer 2018, ahead of the new academic year.
Cliff Wheatley, managing director of Galliford Try North East and Yorkshire, said: 鈥淭he 鈥楻icky Road鈥� flats have been at the heart of student folklore in the city for a long time, and we hope that the new Park View village will similarly be appreciated by the students while enhancing their experience of life at the University.鈥�
