Decline in construction insolvencies

3 hours Insolvency Service data suggests that construction insolvencies have fallen 20% year-on-year.

Latest data from the Insolvency Service shows that there were 324 construction insolvencies in April 2025.

This is a 13.8% decrease from the previous month – there were 376 construction insolvencies in March 2025 – and a 19.8% decrease from a year before. There were 404 construction insolvencies in April 2024.

Mark Supperstone, partner at accountancy firm S&W, said: “The construction sector saw a small respite in April with monthly insolvencies down by almost 14% from the previous month. While this is welcome news, the sector remains under considerable strain, and the recent data paints a picture of cautious resilience amid ongoing structural challenges.â€

He added: “The next quarter will be critical in determining whether the sector can steady itself – or slide further.â€
