A Suffolk concrete supplier has booked its largest ever contract thanks to having Sizewell C preconstruction works in the vicinity.
Eastern Concrete will deliver more than 120,000 cubic metres of concrete over the next two years for the enabling and early works at Sizewell C.
The contract has already created eight new jobs at Eastern Concrete鈥檚 Leiston plant, which is a stone鈥檚 throw from the nuclear power station.

Deliveries will be made from Eastern Concrete鈥檚 batching plant in Leiston, set up in 2023 on Eastlands Industrial Estate, and eventually from an additional plant located on the construction site.
The materials will support non-nuclear construction activities such as site roads, park and ride facilities, and all the temporary buildings required for the project.
Based in Stowmarket, Eastern Concrete previously supplied materials for the dry fuel store at Sizewell B in 2014. This new contract builds on that legacy, reinforcing the company鈥檚 partnership with the Sizewell projects.
Preliminary construction work on Sizewell C began in January 2024, and since then the project. Earlier this month, the government confirmed the project would go ahead and announced further investment of 拢14.2bn. A final investment decision, which will announce the private investors helping to fund the project, is expected later in the summer.
At peak construction Sizewell C is expected to employ 7,900 people on site and support tens of thousands of other jobs in the UK supply chain.
