Wigan-based Marsden Crane Services has taken delivery of a Liebherr LTC 1050-3.1 compact city crane.

Its first project was supporting building works at Burnley Football Club. The LTC was seen lifting precast concrete sections of the Turf Moor stadium’s walkway.

The three-axle crane is equipped with a six-section, 36-metre telescopic boom. With a 7.5 to 13-metre double-swingaway fly jib also fitted, it can lift to a height of 48 metres and a maximum working radius of 39 metres. It also has an elevating operator's cab.

The LTC 1050-3.1 also has RemoteDrive, which allows control of all crane functions from outside both the operator and driver cabs. This allows the operator to stand outside the unit and manoeuvre it through narrow spaces, such as inside industrial buildings or constricted city centres.

Marsden Crane Services was formed in 2015 by brothers Brendan, Dale and Lee Marsden. It runs a fleet of city type, all-terrain, spider and mini crawler cranes, as well as aluminium truck cranes from its base in Wigan.

Lee Marsden said of the latest purchase: “The compact size, combined with the RemoteDrive and VarioBase technology, will allow us to take on specialist jobs for our clients.”

The VarioBase system allows the outriggers to be deployed asymmetrically, with the load moment limiter adjusting safe lifting limits accordingly.
