Morgan Sindall to build £37m Alconbury Weald school

3 hours Cambridgeshire County Council has appointed Morgan Sindall Construction to build a new secondary school.

Morgan Sindall Construction will build Alconbury Weald Church Academy to serve the expanding Alconbury Weald development.

Alconbury Weald Church Academy will sit alongside Prestley Wood Academy SEND School, which was built by Morgan Sindall last year, and be run by the Diocese of Ely Multi-Academy Trust (DEMAT).

In the £37m first phase of its construction, the secondary school will be built as a four form-entry (4FE) and cater for 600 pupils, with enlarged core facilities and external space to enable future expansion when required.

A three-storey main teaching block and separate sports block will be built alongside three grass sports pitches, a 3G pitch, two multi-use games area (MUGA) pitches and an artificial cricket wicket.

Completion is scheduled for spring 2027.
