Morrison Construction will build a new 15,500m2 specialist mental health facility on the western edge of the hospital campus in Morningside, Edinburgh. A new brain injuries unit will be incorporated in an adjacent building to replace the existing Robert Fergusson Unit.Â
The contract was awarded by Hub South East Scotland on behalf of NHS Lothian.
The Construction Index reported back in July 2013 that Morrison Construction had been selected for the contract, which back then was valued at £41.8m.
With the deal now done, Galliford Try will invest £2.2m in the funding for the project. It will also provide facilities management services for 25 years after completion, in a contract worth approximately £18.5m over the full concession period.Â
Galliford Try executive chairman Greg Fitzgerald said: "Our relationship with Hub South East Scotland Limited is an important element of our Morrison Construction business in Scotland and we are pleased to be selected for this significant health project for NHS Lothian. We look forward to successfully delivering this project for our client and wider stakeholders, and in turn provide the local community with an enhanced built environment and improved facilities."
