Liverpool City Council has resolved to grant full planning permission for the construction of 268 homes on a site in Speke, to the south of the city.
The joint developers are The Peel Group and Barratt Homes. This is the first fruits of a strategic partnership that they have formed to bring forward new housing development on a number of Peel’s residential sites in the northwest and northeast of England.
Peel director of land and planning Louise Morrissey said on securing planning consent: “We are pleased to achieve this significant success to help towards the continuing regeneration of the Speke-Garston corridor. Peel is happy to have found the right partner and projects to deliver significant investment in major new development schemes to serve local demand.â€
Barratt Manchester managing director Neil Goodwin added: “We are delighted to have worked so quickly and successfully through the planning process and can now look forward to starting on site and to building and selling much-needed new Barratt homes in Speke. Our on-going, constructive relationship with Liverpool City Council assisted in the planning application being determined in early course. This is a great achievement very early in the life of the Framework Agreement between Peel and Barratt and we are looking forward to further progress in the coming months.â€
