While initial details are scant, Van Elle – the UK’s largest ground engineering contractor – has revealed that it has agreed the acquisition of the concrete piling assets of VolkerGround Engineering.
Neither the value nor the volume of machinery changing hands has been disclosed.
The assumption is that Van Elle will become sole supplier of concrete foundations for VolkerWessels UK, since VolkerGround Engineering specialises in driven and in-situ steel piling.
Van Elle chief executive Mark Cutler said: "We have a long trading relationship with VolkerWessels UK and this agreement brings us closer together as strategic partners, providing mutual benefits to both parties."
Although it might sound like a natural alliance between the UK subsidiaries of Dutch parent companies, Van Elle actually is not, and never has been, Dutch. It was founded in 1984 by Michael Ellis and listed on the alternative investment market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange in 2016.
