Willmott Dixon wins £14m Scarborough campus

15 Oct 15 Coventry University has selected Willmott Dixon to build its new £14m campus for the recently opened satellite operation in Scarborough.

The Coventry University Scarborough Campus opened in September 2015 and will relocate to a new home at Weaponess Valley in September 2016.  Willmott Dixon was appointed to build this under Scape Group’s national major works framework.

The purpose-built campus will include a library, IT suites, café, mock law court, engineering and science labs, and a careers team.

Willmott Dixon has been on a good run in the higher education sector, building similar facilities for universities that include Warwick, Kent, Cambridge, Bournemouth, Birmingham City, West London and Brighton with a combined value of more than £250m.

Coventry University Scarborough Campus will be a key part of a £45m sports and education facility on the town’s old Weaponness park & ride site.

Coventry University vice-chancellor John Latham said: “This is a massively important project for Coventry University, Scarborough and the regional economy. It will bring transformational economic and social impact by enhancing the education, skills and career prospects of local people.â€
