Service Charge Accountant - 12 month Maternity Cover

My client, a well-established and highly respected property consultancy with a long-standing presence across London and the South East, are seeking a Service Charge Accountant to join their forward thinking team.

You will be reporting to the Head of Property Management Accounts covering a portfolio of commercial industrial estates around East London and Essex.

Duties:

  • Preparation of client statements & VAT reports (Monthly and quarterly) including client Rent and service charge invoices.
  • Payments of Rent funds to Clients.
  • Submission of VAT to HMRC, and payment as required.
  • Annual service charge budgets:
  • Preparation of draft budgets on a section of our management portfolio
  • Discussion with Property Managers
  • Updating tenant's individual database charges
  • Checking apportionment schedule and updating as needed
  • Finalising and sending to tenants
  • Preparing year end service charges files ready for audit:
  • Preparing, scanning, and emailing of files and invoices
  • Dealing with accountant's queries
  • Reviewing with property managers
  • Attending review meetings
  • Finalising and sending to tenants
  • Preparation of monthly/quarterly invoicing prelist, liaison with property manager, raising agreed charges and printing and sending invoices to tenants
  • Dealing with specific client requirements
  • Credit control
  • Discussing arrears with Property Manager and attending review meetings.
  • Telephoning tenants and/or sending reminder letters
  • Review of Payment plans, and Rent deferments.
  • Updating Rent schedules, and tenant notes
  • Instructing Civil Enforcement Officers when required (in line with the RICS guidelines)
  • Tenant and client liaison as required
  • Dealing with correspondence and emails as appropriate
  • Attending Client and Team meetings when required
  • Ad hoc duties and Administration tasks
  • Assisting other members of the Accounts team as the need arises



Requirements:

  • At least a years' service charge experience
  • Experience using MRI QUBE is desirable however not essential
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Willingness to support other team members as some cover may be required (purchase ledger, cashier duties)
  • High attention to detail


Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5.30pm, 2 days WFH / week
